This is an exceptionally rare watch that tracks both the tide and moonphase as well as the date. To appreciate how rare this watch is, we challenge you to scour the Internet to find another one, you likely won’t ;-) When we acquired this watch about 10 years ago, we worked hard to learn more about it. We concluded this watch was likely a prototype (as it has no name brand) manufactured by Arola, an old Swiss watch brand. We have a picture of an identical watch that has the Arola name. Arola has historically specialized in Tidal complications and is still in-business today. This watch contains an in-house modified A. Schild 5206 automatic wind watch with date, modified to show the tides and moonphase— this level of modification was unusual for the era this watch was made, which we predict was the early 1970’s. Aside from its fascinating movement and history, the quality of the case on this watch exceeds just about any other watch we have seen in this era outside of Omega or other similar higher grade brands. The overall watch’s manufacturing and execution exceeds most any expectations you might have for a typical 1970’s watch— the case is smooth, polished, substantial, and simply extremely well crafted. It is a very nicely sized larger watch at 40mm round and 45mm including crown and crown guard. You can search the Internet more for what it means to track the tide, we won’t get into that here. Overall, this is a fantastic highly collectible and rare watch that will bring true distinction to your wrist and collection. We matched the watch with a beautiful and expensive lightly used Dubey and Schaldenbrand midnight blue real alligator strap and deployant.

We estimate the watch was manufactured in the early 1970’s

ClockSavant Watchmaker Testing, Certification, and Performance Measurement
All the watches we sell go through a comprehensive series of ClockSavant-developed functional, stability, and performance tests and are only approved for sale if they meet or exceed the criteria we have established. Performance measurements for this watch are provided below. See the Support page of our website for an explanation of watch performance measurements and guidance on interpretation. The watch performance values provided do not necessarily reflect the accuracy you will experience based on your unique watch wearing habits. You may experience a gain or loss by as much as approximately 1 minute per day with vintage watches.
Legend: Rate, Amplitude (Amp), and Beat Error (BE) are provided for Dial-Up (CH) and Dial-Down (FH) positions. Averages (Avg) are also provided. These represent the average performance of the watch across all 6 traditionally measured watch positions which, in addition to dial-up and dial-down, are the vertical positions of Crown-Up, Crown-Down, Crown-Left, and Crown-Right. Rate is expressed in seconds gained or lost during a 24 hour period. Amplitude is in degrees. Beat Error is in milliseconds. Lift Angle used in measurement is unique to the particular watch calibre.
