Summary |
From our ClockSavant Survivor line, Fully Serviced by ClockSavant, this is a watch restored for its importance or significance and not profitability. This vintage watch came to us in an estate/parts watch purchase. Inside a pile of worn and broken watches, a depressing vision because we never like to see a non-working watch, this one caught our eye. It’s pretty obvious why it did, take a look at it. Who wouldn’t smile and laugh when they look at the dial on this watch? If a watch were an anti-depressant, this would be it. We pulled it out and set it aside. Later, when we were in the mood for a Survivor project— restoring a watch because we are crazy about horology and not for any sane business reason— we picked this watch up. Again it drew us into it and the deal was done— this watch was put on a cart and rushed into the ClockSavant horological emergency room to see if we could wake it up, bring it back. Inside we found some surprises. First, we noticed that the entire watch including the movement was made in France. Why would we be surprised, doesn’t the whole watch scream artist, French, and 70’s? So we put-on our tie-dye shirt, cut-off jeans shorts, and played some Led Zepplin as we began our recovery work. We fully disassembled, cleaned, adjusted, and lubricated the movement, painstakingly manipulated its hairspring as it needed it, and in the recovery room we discovered this watch was ready to bring a smile to its next owners face and generations to come. |

All the watches we sell go through a comprehensive series of ClockSavant-developed functional, stability, and performance tests and are only approved for sale if they meet or exceed the criteria we have established. Performance measurements for this watch are provided below. See the Support page of our website for an explanation of watch performance measurements and guidance on interpretation. The watch performance values provided do not necessarily reflect the accuracy you will experience based on your unique watch wearing habits. Legend: Rate, Amplitude (Amp), and Beat Error (BE) are provided for Dial-Up (CH) and Dial-Down (FH) positions. Averages (Avg) are also provided. These represent the average performance of the watch across all 6 traditionally measured watch positions which, in addition to dial-up and dial-down, are the vertical positions of Crown-Up, Crown-Down, Crown-Left, and Crown-Right. Rate is expressed in seconds gained or lost during a 24 hour period. Amplitude is in degrees. Beat Error is in milliseconds. Lift Angle used in measurement is unique to the particular watch calibre.
