Summary
|
The Memosail chronograph developed a cult following in the 1970’s amongst the sailing community. Known as a countdown chronograph, it measures down from 10 minutes to zero, something folks in sailing races do. You can search on this watch on the Internet, it has quite collector following. What we have here is one of the finest examples of this watch you will likely come across. Barely worn, it is in like new condition and includes its original boxes, papers, and strap. These were highly functional watches that typically saw a lot of use. To find one in this condition is exceedingly rare. The blue dial and strap will bring a smile to your day, it screams bright cheery 1970’s. It’s quite a bit of fun to wear. Although this watch was designed for sailors, as stated in our Support section and below, this watch should not be subjected to any water. We have not waterproofed the watch and while perhaps we could, we don’t believe in doing-so for watches of this era. We believe they’ve earned their keep without proving their resistance to the elements and deserve a protected seat at the table. Should an accident happen with them and they rust heavily, we might not be able to save it in the ClockSavant horological emergency room, so keep it away from the sailing ship and instead wear it in the yacht club.

Rate is expressed in seconds gained or lost during a 24 hour period. Amplitude is in degrees. Beat Error is in milliseconds. Lift Angle used in measurement is unique to the particular watch calibre.
