I recently serviced this superb vintage Rolex 1500 calibre 1570 from 1969 for a ClockSavant customer. This family watch was impeccably maintained by the customer's Grandfather and passed down to his Grandson who will be wearing it down the wedding aisle shortly. Most watches speak to you, as this one did during servicing. This watch tells the story of grace, class and respect for the things you value. During servicing, the end-shake of a dial-side component, the date change cam, was adjusted. This part can easily come out of adjustment through ongoing tightening during installation-- it gets pushed down more and more until the midnight date change becomes a heavy burden on the watch. On a well serviced watch, this date change works very smoothly during midnight despite the large amount of spring pressure found in the design. This watch is now running wonderfully after servicing and is water resistant once again.
