Servicing a vintage Rolex Submariner model 6536/1 calibre 1030 from 1957

I recently serviced this vintage Rolex Submariner model 6536/1 calibre 1030 from 1957. This model is associated with the original James Bond movie of the era. The 6536, 6538, and 5508 defined the future of Rolex’s highly successful Submariner line. This is an excellent example and now running beautifully after servicing. Highlights of servicing included dealing with the extraordinary amount of excess grease and oil used by the previous watchmaker, manipulating the hairspring to optimize performance, and polishing the very fragile sweep second pinion to raise performance.
