I recently serviced this beautiful Movado Kingmatic Calibre 531 from approximately 1960 for one of our regular customers. I especially like the aged patina on the dial. This watch was given to their son years ago. Movado made fantastic in-house movements back then. They were high quality and unique. The Calibre 531 is a pleasure to service. As you can see in the last set of pictures, the watch was exceptionally dirty. After servicing, the watch is running very strongly and with surprisingly good accuracy, a testament to Movado’s excellent movement design and manufacturing capabilities during this era. While not applicable to this Calibre, I will note Movado did tend to frequently tweak and perfect some calibre's with a suffix (A, B, C...) and on those calibers, parts— right down to the most basic mainspring— can be a challenge. Also some models leverage an offset cannon pinion that can present unique challenges if not handled correctly.
