Because work is performed across a large swath of horology and to drive quality, focus, and avoid cross-contamination, a good degree of specialization and segmentation is required in the workspace. Doing this work well and adhering to the original principles these timepieces were designed to— accuracy, reliability, trust, and often mission critical timekeeping— translates to a large workshop investment.
